Narrative

ON 11/16/99 AT 1345 CST, A PA-28R-201, N175ND OWNED BY THE UNIVERSITY 
   OF NORTH DAKOTA AND FLOWN BY MILES JACOBSON LANDED GEAR-UP AT THE 
   GRAFTON, ND AIRPORT. THIS WAS AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT WHICH HAD 
   DEPARTED GRAND FORKS, ND APPROXIMATLEY 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT.  
   THE INSTRUCTOR, MR. JACOBSON HAD REDUCED POWER TO SIMULATE AN ENGINE 
   FAILURE.  THE INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT BECAME DISTRACTED AND FORGOT TO 
   LOWER THE LANDING GEAR ALTHOUGH BOTH REPORTED THAT THEY HEARD THE "GEAR 
   HORN" DURING THE APPROACH TO LANDING.  NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.  THE 
   AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE OT THE PROPELLER, LEFT FLAP, COWLING 
   ANTENNAS, STEP, KEELS, TAIL TIEDOWN AND FOWARD JACK POINT AND NOSE GEAR
